I realized I don't really get "butterflies" anymore?

i used to experience the "butterflies" feeling around girls I had a big crush in middle school and high school. also just the excitement and anticipation of the girls I like. well I am 23 now and I realized I don't feel like that anymore.

i don't feel strong crushes anymore...i see pretty girls all the time and I want to have sex with them, but not so much the butterflies feeling. then again I haven't been on a date with a girl I find really attractive in a long time. I just hook up when I get the chance to (one night stands at bars mostly).

is this normal?

I still get butterflies and I am 22!

The thing is I really don't get butterflies over hot dudes or whatever. Its not butterflies because I find someone physically attractive anymore. More so I get butterflies when I have really deep and meaningful conversations with a guy and I realize that his words and his mind is intense and amazing and beautiful and then I start to like him.

So I guess I get butterflies for the people, not for how they look. I get butterflies because I know this amazing (on the inside) person may or may not like me back and may or may not find me as amazing.

So that could be another problem of yours. Butterflies come from the nerves of does she or doesn't she. If you aren't emotionally invested you aren't nervous. If you know that you are hot and the chances of her rejecting you are very slim, then you have no reason to be nervous.

I recommend trying to get to know a girl on a more personal level. Open up to being really good friends and see if feelings develop from there. If they do, I almost guarantee that you will start getting butterflies around her.

I am 20 and I know exactly what you mean. I have a crush on a girl and I get the butterflies feeling just by thinking of her. She have given me a so kind personality that I am almost worshipping her. LOL :P

You've matured in the sense that not every attractive woman is amazing to you. It takes more than just a pretty face for you to fall head over heels for them. However if you want to meet that amazing girl I'd suggest you stop the one night stands. No decent woman is going to like to hear that a guy that she was considering dating just knocks boots with a girl and leave them high and dry afterward. That will certainly leave her running for the hills. :)

Yes, you are jaded from hooking up. Maybe these experiences also made you realize that looks aren't everything, and since you're getting off, you're not getting intense physical reactions from seeing a pretty girl

Same here, and I don't date around, so I'm not numb to it or anything. I didn't ever feel like that with my current boyfriend, and we've had the best relationship out of the few I've had. :/
