Guys, What does it mean when he always initiates a hug?

There is a guy I kind of feel a connection with but sometimes I don’t (it’s weird). Anyway, in the beginning of our acquaintance when I really felt the affinity more like buddy energy (he’s a really nice guy), I would always greet him with a hug. But, since I started realizing I may have more feelings for him and in conjunction with COVID (out of respect), I stopped greeting him that way, I just wave instead. However, he still continues to initiate hugs both upon meeting and when parting. I don’t know if he just was used to me greeting him that way and so continues it without thinking or if he likes me and misses that I used to initiate it and so takes it upon himself to do so. What do you guys think? He always includes hug emojis in texts to me as well.

Sounds to me that he just likes to give hugs. Its also possible that he's just so used to greeting/ saying goodbye that way he does it without thinking.

could be that he likes to hug, he feels comfortable enough with you to hug every time, or he may even have feelings for you.
