Guys, Why do guys casually take snap pic or video of their crotch?

I don't mean dick pics, i mean like when i snapchat some guys they'll send a picture of their pants with the basic legs spread pose and specifically point it at their crotch area... i would of course never be able to do that but is that a normal thing for guys?
