We’ve been together for 10 months. He is very kind and caring as a person, and is a doting father of two. He says he worries a lot about me, like when I go out alone or go driving on backroads. I told him there is no need to worry, but he says he can’t help it. Is this a common issue? What can or should I do?
Superb Opinion
It's pretty common it just seems he loves you. I got a cold 8 months into my relationship with my boyfriend, he doted on me for days until I was better there's nothing bad about it :)

You should be glad he cares enough about you to be concerned. It doesn't sound like he's possessive, just that he's a bit of a worrier. Then you should consider a means to check in when you go wandering off.
