Was he negging me or teasing me?

During a conversation where we may have been flirting, he said to me something along the lines of “I’m better looking than you, make more money, smart, etc...”. He compared himself to me in a lot of aspects. I was confused, I can’t remember what exactly I responded but he told me he was joking and he may have complimented me after but I can’t remember. One other time I was speaking of famous women I admire and who I aspire to be like one day, he just laughed and may have said I don’t look like them or I won’t. On a third occasion he said something along the lines of I have potential to be great if I don’t fall off in life. These three comments were at different time points and I believe he never said anything like that more than three times.

Looking back at it, those words kind of hurt and I’m not 100% sure if it was negging or just harmless teasing on his behalf. Can you enlighten me? Just to give some context, he does genuinely compliment me and I can only recall of three comments which I now believe may have been begging. Not 100% sure though and I’m not going to ask him. Do you think I’m overanalysing/overthinking those comments?

There are abusers who do this with the intention of lower a woman's self esteem. I'm not saying he's doing this, but it's very possible. Regardless of whether he's doing it on purpose though, he's not a healthy guy to be around. I recommend cutting him out of your life.

Is he your boyfriend? If a guy told those things to me, even if as a joke, I would get uncomfortable. Thats not exactly funny and those words may hurt. You should be careful. See if he does this again and they tell him that you dont find it funny. Watch what his reaction is. If he doesn't apologize or laughs at you, leave him
