I don't usually date a girl in the friend circle but I figured if it didn't work out I'd at least get some feedback on what I do wrong all the time and the answer they gave just blew me away. Just sounds like another b. s. lie to me.

Yes it's true, for example at work, many females (married women, single moms, single women) are attracted to me. I can see it in their behavior, they feel nervous, around me. When women see you as having more value than them, they might put you in "pedestal" and feel intimidated by you, sometimes they seem to avoid looking at you upfront (But when your not looking they stare). This is where you take on the initiative of becoming assertive with them and start a conversation to open them up. They will appreciate it a lot.
