Why would a guy randomly unfollow you on multiple social media platforms?

Me and this guy went to school together 3 years ago, we liked each other but never got together because I was dating someone else and we were going to university at opposite ends of the country. We don’t speak anymore but a few days ago I noticed he has unfollowed me on instagram and unfriended me on Facebook. I know he’s done this in the last few months because he liked my last Instagram photo about 6 months ago. I find strange because he still follows all my friends and is friends with them all on Facebook, and he never ever speaks to them either. Why has he only unfollowed me on all socials we had each other on?

Maybe he started dating someone new, and wanted to "clean up" his social media to avoid potential drama?

If he removed you how do you know he didn't remove other girls as well?
