If a guy wants to f*ck only and the girl disappears, what would he think?

I really like this guy. I vibe with him and I can read him like an open book. At first he wanted to be friends and was open and honest about having a side chick (his ex). He was attracted to me to say the least. I kind of dived deeper and discovered a lot of stuffs like although he remained friends with benefits with his ex, he still love her and is having a hard time moving on. I supported him and tried to make him move on. However, when his ex pointed her nose again he went crazy over her again. I did not even tried to discourage him because his ex lives abroad and due to the covid situation he cannot go meet her and more over she went back to her home country so things will probably not be the same in a long time. I was so persistent to date him, chasing him since one year, he told me he was never interested (i did some romantic stuffs for him). I know I will definitely get attached so I started ignoring him despite his effort to get my attention again. What would a guy who propose no string attached must be thinking when the girl decline his offer?
