Why do men this it’s okay to be creepy and flirt so much with females in customer service?

I’ve noticed this a lot when I first started working in retail a couple of years ago that guys who are like half of my age always hitting on me and my other female employees. This generally happens to young female employees around my age (18-25) and when they do it, they convince us to want to take us out on dates and they are just so nasty. Today I was pushing carts in the parking lot and a guy who was Middle Aged talked to me for about 15 minutes about why I should let him take me out on a date and tbh, I don’t like any of the attention from these men at all.

It’s creepy and it makes me feel uncomfortable.. I’m sorry if that sounds dramatic but that’s how I feel. And when I told him nicely I wasn’t interested, he began to literally bash black women and say that the way we dress is disgusting and that the reason that no one would want to marry us is because we have big mouths & that we should listen to what men tell us. In other words, he was saying that black women are harder to control because we stand up for ourselves. He got really offended when I said no and asked for my number even when I was not interested.

And my other female employees say that men hit on them as well! A few of them say that some men try to follow them home.

I couldn't imagine talking to some random woman that's on the just for 15 minutes just to explain to them why they should go out on a date with me, that just sounds creepy asf.

What gets me the most is how some dudes actually find doing stuff like that to be the proper approach.


And then they sit their wondering why they're single asf getting rejection after rejection.

Tbh, he was being very creepy and many people do tell me I am pretty female. He also was creepy enough to ask me to pull down my mask to see my face. I just find it odd that men who are old enough to be my uncle or dad find interest in me even after me telling them no and saying I am 20 years old. How could you possibly be interested in taking a girl out on a date you don’t even know? Is it just because I am a young attractive black woman and you think I’m an easy quick fuck or something?

I’m starting to get annoyed to the point where I just dislike men all together. I’m not saying I’m going gay but it’s just extremely disrespectful how much flirting that they do while I am trying to just work. Some of them hit on me while they are with their wives or girlfriends. It’s just nasty.

I used to work in retail and this happened all of the time, whether you a guy or girl. I used to get groped by old ladies and young girls, creepy as hell. As a man, there was literally nothing I could do. I think it's just people being perverts.

Because they feel entitled. The word "no" doesn't exist to them coming from a women, simply because they think they are above you, and you owe them attention and sex. I have had men say all kinds of things to me after kindly being told "I'm not interested." The temper tantrums that have followed, are decidedly hilarious. It baffles me that we let some of these fools roam free among the rest of us, who know how to behave, let alone breed.

Well there are a lot of reasons. On a biological level humans naturally look for youth and fertility, especially men. On a creepy level they want someone they can control. Older women tend to not put up with as much bullshit as someone younger. They know better and they tend to stand up for themselves more often. Some guys want young and stupid women who will let them walk all over them, and never say no. Once they realized you weren't having it, it sounds like he resorted to bashing not only women but black women. That's his internalized colorism that came out.

It's a weird paradox to me. Online I can use humor and sarcasm to deflect any attempt at guys coming on to me if I want. In person though, it is completely different. Like having them right there in your face is intimidating and I am already a socially anxious person.

It's why I tried to avoid too much work where I was involved with customers directly. I don't envy those of you that have to do it daily. My heart goes out to you.

I really hope people don't think I'm flirting! When I was single I had NO "game" at all, and I'd hate to think I was communicating something I didn't intend to by being friendly!

I just flirt and give them my number. Then it's up to them if they want to pursue anything. Easy and no hassle and I don't need to bother anyone who doesn't want anything.
