I just think rating someone based off looks is somewhat dehumanizing. You rate movies, restaurants. Not human beings?
But a lot of boys ask me to rate them and a lot make games out of basically sending pictures of yourselves and getting rated in a gc.
I’ve never rated anyone, mostly cause if I gave someone a high rating it’d probably give them an ego boost and make them think I want to be with them or something and also as I said before I find it dehumanizing and beauties subjective. I’d never want anyone to feel bad based off of how much I find them attractive. On top of that what makes a person attractive is personality, looks is a small portion for me in my opinion.

To rate, to categorize, to evaluate, to judge, and yes to discriminate (differentiate) is very very human, and we do it all the time, consciously or not, and with bad intentions or not. It is one of the most natural things in this world.
The difference is how you do it, when do you do it, and why do you do it.
There are two things I don't like much from your post, to present it as if only boys do this, because girls do it too, and also children and adults as well. But I get it, you're talking from your personal experience. In my experience, and having three girl friends in college, I do remember those afternoons in which we had nothing much to do at all, so we would sit at the benches, and watch people walk by... they liked to rate every guy on his looks, sometimes their fashion choices, and other times girls, as well. They were never mean about it, they would not do it to mock, even if the people judged would never know, they just liked to point out certain things they liked about someone, or as many... it was just a fun time to pass some time.
The other thing is your choice of words "dehumanizing" from all the horrors and cruelty that a lot of people experience, which are truly henious, to say something like this is to that level, well.. that's just me being, fussy about words and what they actually imply.
By the way, I don't like to give rates to people either, better said, I don't like to post numbers here as rating for people, but I've done it in my mind, because it's a natural thing to do, I just don't want to let it out there in case that it might hurt someone in a way., because yes, that can happen sometimes, and you can also enable an ego in a way that's not healthy. Yes it is dehumanising and stupid because they don’t have a parameter to rate off like it’s not based on conventional beauty but rather their own personal tastes which makes it even more biased and pathetic. Everyone has different taste because to a great extent, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
We have all disagreed on how good looking someone is with people before because to them someone may be gold but to us they’re not even brass. Some people think Angelina Jolie is ugly. I may add that she is not conventionally attractive, I mean she has a large chin, a sqaure shaped jaw and small eyes as opposed to the conventionally attractive Aishwarya Rai with a small chin, dainty V shaped jaw and large almond shaped eyes. Yet a lot of people seem to find Angelina pretty because that is their taste.
Not everyone finds Aishwarya to be their cup of tea but almost everyone can agree that she is at least pretty. Because she is a conventional beauty but she may not be everyone’s cup of tea despite that.

Everyone has a rating system. How it's verbalized in your head is just different but you do have a rating system. You know what qualities you like in a guy vs what you don't like.
You readily can look at two guys and know which one you find more attractive. When you can't decide. Congratulations you found two guys you "rate" about the same.

Sorry but the harsh reality is life isn't fair and humans are all born with different levels of attraction, different capabilities and different intelligence levels. Everyone assesses others beauty to an extent and good for you if you don't. Whether you like it or not, everyone "rates you" in some form or way subconsciously. There are always going to be people who can handle the truth and don't mind getting an honest opinion about themselves. I admit it's rude to get rated without asking for a rating... no one other than immature people do that, but it's natural for people to do this in their own heads regardless. You can never stop that. Everyone has dating criteria and physical standards. It doesn't dehumanize anyone.

I would say girls rate guys very handily, but perhaps without numbers. According to that tinder rating data (I think it was), women rated most guys as below average. I guess a lot of girls don't know what 'average' is. As for rating girls, I think you can generally rate a person's attractiveness objectively by looking at their features, of course taking into account your own ethnic biases. Saying it directly to the person could be rude, but I had a girl I worked with ask me how I rated her, which was a 6.5. She seemed fairly fine with that, not like we were dating. People throw around 10 out of 10! so much, but such a high number is practically humanly impossible, and you have to start your outlook with a 5 out of 10 as a basis. Some things are fairly universal in terms of attraction, like long hair for women, narrow waist, nice hips, no tats or piercings, etc.
because guys are realistic. they wanna give all they have with girls they realisiticly "have a chance with" and not waste their time with girls that won't give them a chance to begin with. that's why rating is helpful. it reduces the time you waste in getting to know people, so that you can find someone you can settle with. life is short.

I don’t agree with jubilee because they care more about entertainment and platform stupid people. For example the one video they did where it was flat earth ers debating scientists and the scientists where the obvious ones with common sense but for some reason the video was framed as if both side are on an equal standing when in reality it was actual facts and people who study vs Facebook moms and conspiracy theorists that don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.

Look, the reality is that competition is a part of life. There are always going to be people more beautiful, more desired, more competent, richer, nicer, and more liked than you. It's up to every individual to try to make the most of the gifts they've been given.
Beauty can’t be rated, everyone has their own type/what they’re attracted to. And I don’t think someone else’s beauty just automatically devalues my own beauty?

Yeah I don't think that's true. If you ask 30 guys to list the top 10 hottest girls in a group you're going to get a LOT of overlap. That's not because beauty is arbitrary. Quite the contrary, it's pretty predictable. There are always exceptions but as always with exceptions they're rare.
That’s how teenage boys act because their brain isn’t fully developed by scientifically your tastes will age as you age. Meaning, they’ll get more complex.
Not to mention cultural, spiritual/religious backgrounds, ethnic/race backgrounds all play a role in what someone might find attractive.
And don't you realize that everyone's ratings are subjective not objective? Everybody has the rights to rate and have preferences because we are born different. People don't normally tell each other how they rate each other but in the inside, they do without you knowing unless you ask. That's the reality and that's how the world works whether you like it or not and you're not entitled to anyone's preferences either.

Subjective and objective are on a spectrum. If you asked guys to rate a group of girls from most to least attractive and there was ZERO correlation to their responses THAT would make their assessments of beauty totally subjective. If, on the other hand, there is a LOT of correlation--not perfect mind you but very high--then the assessments are much less subjective.
I think you'll find that despite the propaganda, the degree of subjectivity is pretty low across large samples.

we all need validation for our appearance, some need it from others and some get it from themselves. for example, if a man is always in the gym working hard he dont need to be rated because he can already tell he looks better than most people that dont work as hard. When you just put on clothes, jewelry, and makeup a person would need to be rated because they want to believe they covered their insecurities well

I rate girls because its a good way to keep track on attractive girls worth following online. And IRL its a good way to keep track on dateable girls. Of course beauty is subjective, what I consider a 10 might not be a 10 for another guy. For me, as long as she is not a feminist looks matters 90%.

Girls have both quantitative and qualitative aspects. As for those features that are quantitative (weight, height, proportions, hair and eye color,, lip quality for fellatio), there are so many of them that it's just more convenient to take an average.
