Why did he block me on social media but not my number?

So my ex blocked me on all social media and he did block my number on whatsapp and at the time when we broke up im pretty sure he blocked my number but recently when i messaged him he unblocked my number and saw the message right away

The reason he did this reminded me of this habit guys do at times to not be too much in their feels. He blocked you on social media to make sure that whatever he doing with others isn’t known to you but for guys we normally don’t completely block ex’s numbers unless worse case scenario we are in danger. By keeping your number unblocked in phone he still showing he can handle things with you in private where if he chat with you that’s the only outlet and you can’t see who in his rotation or who he interested in. So with that he control the image of how he doing and make it seem like he doing fine without you but also make it so now you question what’s going on like now.
