however you could look into his interests or things he likes art movies ext. and talk to him about that.
having something to talk about helps but if the conversation dies im sure he might find it pointless to talk about something maybe ask how he is doing be more interested in him like what does he want to talk about or what could be bothering him how is he feeling is there someone bullying him or picking on him is there something being said behind his back that he found out and is worried about there are many things that could cause a person to become silent however it takes some investigating to find out what it is and how can you help maybe ask if he wants to talk it can be about anything the birds and the bees or the smell of flowers whatever he wants to talk about and if he doesn't want to talk maybe just go from that to can you spend some time with them being around them can help without the need of talking however and whatever it is i do hope that things get better cause loneliness can become sadness and depression is a hard fight to win alone... i know its a everyday fight.
