I don't know about that particular example... but mindless? Yeah, we are incredibly mindless at times. We have the ability to switch off the brain in a way that women don't. It's an evolutionary trait from our hunter gatherer days. It's why we can sit in the one spot, for hours, doing nothing and feel fine.

Fishing is a good example. Stand there with the rod. Just let everything go.

If you just want the bit about the nothing box, it starts about 5 minutes in, but it's all worth listening to. In short, yes, we are mindless by choice.

He is suggesting, in my opinion, that the male drive to have sex can be so compelling as to cloud his judgement and make him think that he feels more interest in a girl than he does. That is not to say that he couldn't unpick his confusion if he spent time thinking about it, it more suggests that he doesn't particularly try.

Some girls are a great fuck, some not so much. But you're confusing initial attraction with intimate bonding. They're two different things. And for many guys, they're just looking to get their dick wet. They have no consideration for which woman will let him.

Girls connect emotionally.
Guys connect physically.
This isn't to say guys don't have any emotions ore feelings, it's just a completely different dynamic and experience for them verses women.
