Like a significant travel/trip, not just a weekend getaway. But a long travel, different country or across country, etc

It depends on where I'm going and what I'm planning to do there. If it's a set itinerary, lets say Istanbul-Athens-Cairo-Istanbul, a traveling partner (female) is fine because we're locked into airline tickets which were purchased ahead of time. The same goes for a cruise ship- we are going where the ship is going... period.

On the other hand, if I'm going sport fishing in (say) Baja or Panama, well I have to go with a few of the guys. The days may be spent fishing and drinking beer, but evening activities require wingmen who you can trust to have your back. For the married guys, that included buddies who can keep their mouths shut about what's going on!

Now, lets say I have 3 weeks to spend bouncing around Eastern Europe and Turkey, hoping on and off of buses, staying anywhere that suits me, for as long I as I feel staying. I've made special visits to towns and cities which everyone said were remarkable and deserved three or four days to see, but where I had a bad vibe the moment I arrived. I spent a few hours seeing the major sites and then got the next bus out of town. If the travel partner likes the own and doesn't want to leave, now someone has to compromise.

Short distance alone long distance with other people. I drove cross country 22 hours straight through with my 2 sisters which I probably couldn't have done alone but they talked the entire time. Without them keeping my brain engaged with constant questions theirs no way I'd have stayed awake.

With others, definitely. There are so many benefits. Because you have people to talk to and hang out with and share the experience with. And you can share driving duties, and one person can help with directions. And the costs are shared. And you can act as a team and help carry bags and put up tents and cook. It's just so much more of a pleasant experience when you're traveling with a group.
