How come some men hate gay men, but like gay women?

Well if I were to hazard a guess I would say it would have to do with the predator/ prey relationship many people equate to dating. Typically in this equation men are the predator and women the prey, but with gay men they become the predator and, theoretically, the men the prey. (Note, I dont agree with such a view of relations between the sexes, but have seen/heard it enough to consider it mainstream) Where as with gay women that relationship vanishes as there is no opportunity for sex and thus can be treated no different than 'one of the guys'.

They don't understand that gay men aren't even competition for straight men.

I don't know why they hate gay men but my guess for why they don't hate lesbian women also is that they think they're attractive. Some people hate both groups and some hate none of them.
