Do men feel guilty when they emotionally hurt the women they claim to love?

I was in a relationship for 6 years with my ex. We had many plans for our future but a recently found out a bunch of lies and bad things about him so I decided to break up with him. He apologized to me and told me he did not mean to hurt me, but I don't know if his apology was sincere. I feel that he hasn't don't enough to prove me that he is really sorry. I wonder if men feel bad after breaking a girl's heart?

Any human being would feel bad for breaking a heart. People lie and do stupid things without thinking sometimes, or with the intention of avoiding a heart break but it ends up back firing. He does not have to apologize, so the fact that he did has to be taken as a positive in some way..it means he regrets something if anything at all. If you feel like he hasn't done enough, then if he actually loves and cares about you he'll continue trying to make up for the pain.

Its not just men, women break hearts too, and personally I feel like everyone feels bad/guilty ..if with a conscience..its just that sometimes heartbreaks are unavoidable...and people lie/hurt the ones they love mostly because we are all naturally selfish beings..its in our nature to put ourselves first. But I always tell myself, if someone does something for you , be grateful..because no one has to do anything for you and you shouldn't expect otherwise...so that's what makes me appreciate apologies :)

Same thing happened to me and I decided to leave. I'd say if they really feel sorry, they won't hurt you in the first place. So, maybe when he's losing you he starts apologizing. I don't know anything about your boyfriend, so just trust your gut.

Yeah, sure, guys don't like hurting someone they care about. Girls also don't realize that in this situation you've also almost always done things to hurt the guy to get him to act this way.

Sometimes men tell women what they want to hear so we don't disappoint them. It's not easy telling someone you care about a bunch of stuff you very well know will damage how they see you.

They do feel bad. I know from experience. In this case, I was the one who broke another's heart. And it's freaking painful. You cry yourself to sleep every night. You feel guilt eating you up. You start getting depressed.
It is too much pain. And I know that having your heart broken isn't as joyful as well. Cuz I've had it broken 14 times.
I guess the heartbreak over and over again has meddled with my mind for me to give up the best friend anyone could have on this planet. Girls may disagree, saying that all men are the same.
They aren't sweetie. Trust me. They aren't.

No I don't because if I were to ever hurt a girl emotionally it's because she's treated me like dirt & probably deserved it. Only if I cared for her still then I would feel bad but that hasn't happened yet.
