Asked a guy what he was currently looking for in his dating life and he has yet to respond. Is this a difficult question for guys or what?

We have plans to see each other next week, I haven’t seen this guy for like half a year. We casually dated before but went separate ways due to personal reasons unrelated to our interest in each other but we were never a couple. So we have plans to meet up again. I asked him over text though that before we meet I need to ask him what he’s looking for and where he’s at in terms of dating and it has been since last night and so far no response. Is this difficult or something?

I believe that's your answer right there. He doesn't know what he wants and usually a guy that doesn't know isn't serious. He might have been surrpised you asked that since most girls just go with the flow and end up getting hurt when the guy didn't plan on anything turning serious. Its good to ask questions and figure if this guy is worth your time or not. Always good to get the red flag questions out of the way too. If you don't ask him then you aren't looking for anything serious or you are wasting your time.

What if the guy hasn't decided because they haven't spent significant time together in person? This notion that must 'state our intentions' up front isn't logical to me. If I want something serious and tell her that before I know her very well, then I'm painting myself in a corner. If I end it then I'm the bad guy anyway, so what does it matter.

@spartan55 either way the guys behavior is wishy washy and a man that doesn't state exactly what he's looking for upfront is a man who's looking for leeway and in other words is not serious. I get it if he wants to get to know her better but it's not a big deal to talk about what he's looking for ideally in the future.
