What is the best approach to ask a guy I'm seeing if he's dating anyone?

Should I be direct and say: Are you dating anyone?

Or should I use a different approach.

This is someone I have been seeing for several weeks. I would like to know if he's dating other women. I don't want to be a side chick or something along these lines. He's the only person I am seeing.

There is no situation with a man where the direct approach is not the best.

But before that, be honest about what you are asking. Do you want to date him exclusively? Then ask him how he feels about that. Do you want to break up with him if he's seeing someone else? Then ask about that. If you're not in an exclusive relationship then honestly it's none of your business, and were you to ask me that the first thing I'd say is "why do you ask?", so you might as well fast forward through all of that and get to the part that matters.

Well if you haven't had an explicit conversation with him indicating your desire for exclusivity, he's entitled to see other people. As are you. That's not behind your back that's simply in accordance with the rules as they are at this time. You don't like those rules, seek to amend them.

If you're seeing him, you should ask him as part of a conversation in which you tell him what you want and find out what he wants as far as exclusivity goes. You don't want to keep that vague.
