Does he like me or is he just being nice? He chose to help me out with my music for free, he’s a producer, I’m a singer. We’ve met last year and a couple months after he offered his services to me for free. He only does this with close friends that he’s known for years, im also the only woman he works with this way. He makes time to help me out at least once a week. But he’s pretty guarded tho and doesn’t really open up to me much. He had a girlfriend at first but last summer he told me they broke up and that the relationship was pretty toxic. He always likes and shares my posts, and supports my career. But doesn’t communicate much, the texts are short and he hasn’t asked me out to do something outside of the studio. There was only one time last summer when I was about to go on a group trip and he invited himself. Because of Corona we ended up not going and he seemed pretty disappointed. Also, a couple days ago we were in the studio and I left pretty late, I had to drive home and felt fine when I left. Only when I almost got home, I noticed I really wasn’t feeling well so I called him. He told me if I was close by he would’ve called me an uber to stay at his place. He told me to text him when I got home but I ended up forgetting and didn’t text him anymore. He never asked if I got home safely. I’m confused. Is he just a friendly guy who wants to help? Does he just not like me? Or does he like me but is he emotionally unavailable?

by the way, the type of music I make is completely diff from the music he makes. He’s into drill, I’m an r&b girl. Last time we saw eachother he all of a sudden said he’s tired of drill and he’s more into calmer music now. His friend was there and said “he only says that because of you” lol. Also, one of his other friends asked me if I had a boyfriend, even though he’s absolutely not interested in me - BUT my guy is not showing any obvious signs he likes me

It's really difficult to say whether or not he likes you. I'm inclined to think be does mostly because he's working with you for free. That isn't something anybody would do just to be nice.

It also certainly seems like he could like you from the other things you wrote about. But I agree, he isn't sending you super-clear signals of interest.

But what kinds of signals is he getting from you? Are you flirting your ass off and getting no flirting back? Are you somewhat reserved around him (not overly flirty). In other words... What does HE likely think your feelings are towards him? Is it clear that you're into him?

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to give you much of a useful answer here. If I had to guess, I'd say he probably does like you, but is "emotionally unavailable" (or maybe just shy).

But... There's no reason you can't ask him out. You shouldn't wait for him to do it! 🙂

Thank you so much. I think I might be a bit too reserved too. We’re both kinda introverted although I noticed he’s actually very extroverted with his friends. That’s why I thought he might not be interested in me, because with me he’s pretty quiet. I’m gonna try to get out of my comfort zone and flirt a bit... let’s see how that goes.

Good for you! I think that's exactly what you should do. Just because a guy is an extrovert doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't get all nervous and shy around a girl he likes.

If you're both reserved, then this all makes more sense to me.

In my opinion, yeah, he likes you. That doesn't mean he's not going through some s*** though. The thing that I've come to realize a much later than I wish I had, I wasted way too much time wondering. You're an adult, he's an adult, just ask him. The worst thing he can say is that he's not interested in you in that way. If that's the case, no big deal, move on and continue to work with him in the way that you can. It seems like you've already lost a lot of time just wondering. Take a step back and realize that losing what has the potential to be something significant, as far worse than not being embarrassed by asking a question that has an answer you weren't hoping for.

The way I’m seeing it is he’s more focused on your career.

Nothing wrong with taking an interest in talent. This is just my view of it.
