Guy doesn't notice me in class but waits and speaks to me afterwards?

Unless he is sitting next to me, this guy doesn't look at me or "notice me" in class until the end of the lesson when he asks me how I am and waits for me and walks out talking to me. What's going on?

My guess is that he's making a conscious effort to not look creepy in class by like... staring at you, or staring too often, or staring too long. So, he has decided "I'm just not gonna look at her at all during class to guarantee I don't come off creepy".

He doesn't trust himself to 'notice' you without going 'overboard' and staring at you in a way that might work against him. So, he comes up to you to have an actual conversation with you... rather than staring at you from across the room.

It's actually... really not a bad strategy (although I can't recall ever seeing it before to be honest). But that's how I would read that. That seems like a perfectly rational and logical thing for a guy to do. If it were me, this would be my motivation. It's also the only explanation that makes any sense to me.
