Girls, How can I convince my little brother to wear a cup?

My little brother does karate and he told me that he didn't wear a cup at his last tournament. Cups are required for all boys who are competing, but there's no way for them to enforce this really and my brother says he doesn't need it. I guess nothing went wrong last tournament, but I still think it's important for him to wear all of the required protective gear. How can I convince him?
