What are your feelings on celebrity worship?

Maybe worship is a strong term.. but I don't know what to call it.

I used to look at actresses and pop stars in interviews for guidance and would spend my free time admiring them.

Now I tried to do it with Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek today. And I realized... i can't celeb worship. I'm too old for it.

These celeb interview clips are not real, what they say in them is orchestrated in order to sell the lame overhyped movies LOL. The interviewers focus on only certain aspects of the stars' lives and blow it out of proportion to make them look like great people.

The only people i can really care about are people i know. Co-workers, etc.

Celebs are not interesting. They make you feel like you know them on a personal level but come on... Do you really?

I think it is meaningless - if someone spends enough time to watch every step of some celebrity... Are they living their own life or the life of that celebrity?
It doesn't provide them anything except for a bit of entertainment.

I don't care about celebrities, don't know their names (expect for few musicians) or lives, and I would rather read even a bad book than watch what some celebrity does.

When I was a kid I looked up to the original Mercury astronauts. They were exceptional people and I stil think that. Pro athletes, movie stars and politicians are just ordinary selfis people who got lucky and are not worthy of public adulation.
