Does anyone else hate celebrity worship?

I especially hate it when a femal celebrity is a completely mean B!tch and people say:

"Who cares if she's a b!tch, as long as she's hot"

I'm sorry, but I find that kind of response to be very stupid and it makes no sense whatsoever. It really bothers me that some fans are such kiss asses that they think because a celebrity has fame, money and good looks, that's makes it okay for them to treat common people like filth. In fact, it almost seems like they encourage and applaud them for it. Suppose the celebrity is rude and mean to them, then they'll realize how much it sucks and that it's not cool.

Another very stupid quote that doesn't make any sense. They DO owe us. We pay money to see their movies and attend thier concerts, without us they wouldn't be famous.

I definitely agree that celebrity worship reflects one of the stupidest things in modern-day culture. I saw another webpage where they thought it was mainly in the 'West' (English-speaking countries), but believe me, it's also in Asia. Well, I've never understood it, as I don't ever pay attention to these famous people. I only know them when other people mention names or if their talent was especially outstanding. But am I going to then look at all their photos, read all their interviews, and follow the gossip pages? Really? Well, I have a very low tolerance for all these people drooling after other people who they don't even know and most likely, won't ever know. Remember, it's always a public image that we're presented with -- it's not real. And while I do understand the need to find idols and models, it does show something about our culture in the choice of those idols. Don't remember where I heard it -- but someone once said that when the people are ready, the leader will appear. Obviously, it shows something about our culture when most of our attention is on pop stars and athletes. Not that I have anything against them - but come on - when will this culture grow up and be ready for people who can contribute great things? Or are we just going to continue being mindless TV-watchers who just want to be entertained our whole lives? Because this frenzied worship of celebrities is only mirroring back what our modern-day existence has become -- extremely superficial.

I think it probably has something to do with the fact that celebrities are often involved in performing arts that are viewed by millions. So they're widely known and people can talk about them.

However, yes celebrity worship is not only stupid, its incredibly annoying and TV shows/magazines that are basically nothing more than celebrity gospel make me want to hit people.

i completely agree, but it is the same with some male celebrities also. not just women. I hate when child celebrities turn into fully grown adult brats.
