I sit next to my crush in one of my classes, how do I get him to like me?

I sit next to this guy I like in one of my classes, he sits across from me. He’s kind of a quiet guy in the classes I have with him, so when we got seated together we didn’t really talk. The only times we did talk was when we had to do these get to know you things that our teacher has us do. Even then we’d only talk for the amount of time that’s on the timer. Even if the other groups were still talking he’d point out that the time ended and we’d stop. This was when we first got seated next to each other so the conversations were a bit awkward. Recently, we started talking a bit more causally. We always smile through our conversations and we joke around a bit sometimes. But that’s sort of where it ends. Just friendly conversations during the get to know you time and when we need to do an assignment together. We meet eyes a few times just in the middle of class or in even during our other classes together where we don’t sit together. How can I get closer to him and maybe get him to like me back? This is my first time doing this kind of thing so any advice would be helpful.
