Why some guys prefer to text at night time before bed?

I have read somewhere, that messaging right before sleep makes the other person to remember you better (because it has been the last thing the brain remembers before sleeping).
The same way dates in the evening are better than in the morning because people tend to kind of forget morning memories as the day goes on at workplace.

Either he could be shy and places himself into the "friendzone" because he isn't sure if he wants to risk friendship? Or he could be genuinely friendly? Or he could just feel lonely so he writes his friends before sleep to make himself feel less lonely?
I mean it would very much depend on your history with him (childhood friends, recent acquaintance,...), his personality (easygoing and friendly with everyone or kind of introverted,...), and his circumstances (happy or depressed,...).

He could fancy you. Or he could just be bored and wants some flirting.
If you find him acceptable as potential partner, you could provide him with an opening/opportunity to take you out somewhere (like you could write him how your friend was talking about some exhibition or event and it made you interested to go there. And like ask him for his opinion about it - whether he was there or if he heard about it,...) and see if he shows his interest in person.

How can I tell if he’s bored?

By giving him an opportunity to ask you out relatively risk-free (such as by casually writing about some place you thinking of visiting alone). If he is shy/bored then he won't take the chance, if he is interested in pursuing a relationship with you, then he will try to use that chance to get closer to you by suggesting you could go there together.

What do you think about this instance:

He told me earlier in the conversation that he’s kinda tired. We ended up talking till 12 am. Then he was like ” I have to go to bed. I’m soo tired”. As if he had to end the conversation despite not really wanting to. Then we said goodnight to each other with smileys.

If I was tired I would just say ok I’m heading to bed.

Alright... So I would do this (ignoring sleeps despite being tired) only for someone I was somehow interested in (either being good friend or if I was interested in them).
... or for reading just one more chapter from a good book.

Just stating two main reasons I would push my sleep away after midnight despite being tired - either to text with someone I like or when I can't stop reading a book and need to read "just one more chapter" before going to sleep. 😅
Has it never happened to you to read an ebook only to realise it is already 3 AM and you have only 4 more hours left for sleep before going to work? 🤣

Maybe because they are busy throughout the day and it’s the most convenient time for them? I don't know seems like the most logical explanation to me.

Perhaps they're busy during the day and before bed time is when they have some free time to catch up.
