His friends always tease him around me, and when we are talking to each other. He always responds to my texts in less than a minute, and always tries to make me laugh. He has had his fair share in explicit and dark jokes. He also holds eye contact for a long time and is always near me.

Update! In gym he was very concerned when I got hurt and decided to fight the guy who made me pull a muscle on my pinky in volleyball.. he’s also always trying to get near me! What does this mean?

From your descriptive, I do conclude that he likes you in a way or another but is just uncertain how to approach you without looking odd, just in case you don't reciprocate his liking.

If he really is the same age as you are, then those would be signs of a person liking another. It is still relatively innocent but beware just the same.

If your feelings are not reciprocated, don't tease him because you will just confuse him and he may take it out on you later on. I suggest you set the record straight and be honest with him. Don't give him false hopes if you don't like him in return.
