Well I like the fact that girls have smaller more delicate hands than I do and I have certainly put a girls hand against mine to see the difference and enjoy that. But I have only done that with a girl that I fancy not a girl who I regard as a friend.

Seeing he is going from that to hand holding maybe ask
"Why are you holding my hand?" or "Do you like holding my hand?". With a smile by the way and maybe a squeeze of his hand. I'd think the response almost has to be that he likes to and since it doesn't creep you out you should affirm you like it too.
