Why would a guy purposely avoid looking at a girl but still go near her/try to be near her?

Today he saw me and was initially heading in another direction though but stopped and walked past me which I thought was weird.

Sometimes girls do the same thing to guys
They will ignore the guy, not speak to him, not look at him.. Etc
Because they want the guy to make the move

start conversation

Yeah I was doing that for a while too and then he stopped looking. But it was only because I liked him so much I was shy.

He seems so confident and like comfortable when I see him talking to other guys. When He’s said something to me he like seems tensed up a little bit and like does nervous smiling.
