I assume you're asking about short shorts. Of course that's acceptable. Take a look at vintage basketball photos from the 1960s and 70s. Everyone wore short shorts back then.

Basketball players used to wear basketball shorts like that so yes it has been acceptable. I don’t know what that 3rd picture is about cause it’s certainly not about basketball
