Why did a guy I'm meeting for 3-4th time suddenly give me chocolate cookies?

we don't really talk much when we met, although it's getting better the more time we met. There will be silent moments when we were hangout, he was so quiet unless he's asking me question.
But we talked about few places good to visit and we plan for the next meeting. we don't text each other either till appointment day.
So I really am really surprise when he suddenly give me limited theme cookies before we parting for the day. I don't know why and what to do with the situation like this. Should I give him something in return?
