We care about the quality of questions and opinions on this site. Influencers are top users of this site who give detailed opinions. New users are randomly added to their followers list. Moderators are users who have a high report ratio. They report questions that go against GaG’s guidelines.

You will start to gain a reputation, which people will then choose to follow. That is assuming you don't start to ask/answer everything anonymous.

People on here who have a lot are usually the admins, moderators, influencers, or editors. Sometimes this site automatically follows 12 people when they join, which accumulates followers.
