    A couple of things

I would have much more respect for a woman in modest clothing than a woman in a tank top

I also have more respect for a woman who is knowledgeable then for one who isn't

I also have a lot more respect for people with confidence but I can tell the difference between confidence and arrogance and while I respect confidence I have disdain for people who are arrogant

Having some form of skill or talent that I find impressive will also earn you respect points

I also have respect for women who I believe are good mothers

I have respect for some female police officers depending on like what kind of cop they are because some cops are just super strict and just you know they don't give off the vibe of someone you'd want to meet at a bar if you know what I mean and female police officers sometimes match this description as well and I don't respect them but then of course there's the cool police officer who respects the law but is also not a major prick about it and I can respect that I definitely respect that actually so yeah would be nice

All in all I guess just having respectable traits will gain my respect

Also just in case anyone wonders

The modest clothing thought process goes for both sexes male and female

Meaning I prefer women not exposed cleavage and men have fully buttoned up shirts with at least short sleeves for both men and women neither needs long sleeves but at least short sleeves like a polo shirt

I'm not expecting anyone to go by my idea of how people should dress I am not a tyrant that is just my idea of how people should dress not that they have to dress that way

However if you must Wonder if there is any shirts out there that fit my idea of how people should dress and want to try it out yourself

Then men should buy a polo shirt and button it up all the way to the neck if you need to you can leave the top button unbuttoned but I prefer mine to be buttoned

And for the women they do have a short sleeve version of those callared shirts you usually wear under a vest (I forgot what they're called but they look good and I'm sure you can find some with patterns)

Again not saying people should go by my fashion standards just my thought process because it just looks better and has a formal/semi formal look to it

A gentleman is Created by his family. You cantt expect it from everyone...
For me i respect woman as i learnt it from Religion. As once in learnt in childhood on class of Hindu Scriptures - " Wife is half of your body"
    (Ardhangini in hindi)

Until i found some mean characteristics like selfishness, Jealousy, using guys for self purpose , pretending to love someone for getting things done...

What makes to respect is kindness, decent fashion sense (not going with folks) , productivity, good taste of art, music, books...

And how she reacts when unexpected situations happen and does she have sense of self respect or not...

I have learned from my experience to never ever date a man who to look for a reason to respect a woman. A man should respect everyone he comes across until he has a reason not to. Someone who finds it very easy to not respect women, is not a man of decent character.

Trust me, someone like that is gonna end up disrespecting you or treating you like shit once the honeymoon phase is over and you've been married to him for 10 years.

You don't have to sit there and just take abuse, nope. What I do is preserve the respect, and then walk away never to associate with them again until they grow up.

@PatKirby i can be cordial without having to be respectful. Being respectful is going out of your way to show kindness. Being cordial is being mature enough to stay professional

I need to correct what @DizzyDesii wrote here. There is a big difference between respecting someone and treating them respectfully. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully until they give you a reason not to. But respect itself is earned. I can't choose to respect someone. They need to earn my respect.

So, what makes me respect a woman? I'll start by saying what doesn't make me respect her, and that is her education / career. Those things are fine but they don't matter to me one way or the other.

What does matter is that she is a good person with a good heart. That she is unselfish and treats others well. That she respects herself enough to not do things like have casual sex, dress to attract attention or go clubbing and partying all the time. I respect a woman who embraces her femininity and respects a man's masculinity, and understands why we are different and respects those differences. I respect a woman who knows her value as a woman and carries herself with confidence, but at the same time is modest and humble.

I like the way Preach says it, every stranger starts in the middle at 50%, my respect goes up or down from there depending on how you act.

Well 50% is Preach's number. For me I give like 25 to women in general, seeing as how only a handful of women that I've personally met have actually respected me, I can't have much respect for a group where 99 out of 100 disrespect me. I won't say all women are trash cause that's not true, but the good ones, well ones that are good to me anyways are very hard to come by.

For me, all a girl needs is character. If they aren’t a nasty person, if they are genuinely a good human being, they will have my respect by default.

Though, I may be considered generous with how show respect.

Other people may require more to earn their respect. For that, a woman should be sure to also stack on top of their good character: self-respect, dignity, and assertiveness.

The same that make me respect any other human being - trying to be a decent person.

But of the traits I appreciate the most would be education/smartness (doesn't need to be university, but she should be able to hold smart conversation, reading books), kindness, no drugs (drunks and smokers included), and valuing health (exercising once in awhile and doesn't eat too much of bad food).

I sense wisdom in her, class, femininity, grace, kindness, warmth, maturity, intelligence, value.

If I sense she is a fool, loud mouthed with emotional, dumb motivations, makes lousy life choices, her life is chaotic and reckless.

Often you grow to respect someone based off of their own words and actions.

If said woman is dressed conservatively, my respect for her will be far higher than those who tend to dress like a slut (for lack of a better word) and/or in an extremely liberal attire.

Women who oppose and reject feminism, wokeness, etc also gain a good chunk of my respect as well.

If she is not a democrat (immoral) didn't do drugs or heavily drink alcohol, doesn't participate in casual sex, sticks to agreements, doesn't try to insult her SO in front of others to impress them, doesn't try to make NEW opposite gender friends when she is in a relationship, and if she pays her own way on the first date and she thinks of the guy for special occasions too, not just about what she can get on those days.

I think by customs that people follow, but in the case of an individual, I will say her personality because women are beautiful nature's part.
If they do say something bad, its like nature is hitting me with tsunamis and earthquakes.

So personality makes me respect a woman.

Well first, there's always basic respect for someone when I meet them, male or female, then get to know them and it may change one way or the other from there. But I have immediate respect for a woman that approaches a guy, and admire her courage. Even though it's never happened to me, apparently some do it lol.

Overall, a good person. Kind, caring, not harming anyone on purpose, but at the same time she can stand up for herself and her beliefs. She listens to reason. She doesn't act like a spoiled princess, or a bitch.
A plus if she's family oriented, and traditional in her behavior.

No one deserves respect by default apart from the minimum that is due to another human by another. A woman, just like a man, must earn respect by showing respect or showing value to another person.

I respect women who can tell someone how they feel without subliminally dissing them, two a woman who respects her friends and partners, who aren't a user or haters. A woman who knows good from evil. Basically, a woman who has love in her heart.
