Why does it seem that most guys dont do anything other than go to the gym and play video games?

Because that’s what they want to do. If a guy is working full time or going to school full time, or both… Going to the gym or playing video games is a good way to relax or decompress…

I certainly don’t have an issue with guys playing video games or going to the gym. I think it can be beneficial. Obviously, going to the gym is good for your health, and it keeps you in shape and active. It’s also good for mental health. I’m not complaining! And playing video games is also shown to be good for mental health, as it can be a stress reliever and help with anxiety and depression. Not complaining about that either. If men are using the gym and video games in a healthy way, then I’d happy for them.

I think they’re gym-focused to maintain health and impress both themselves and women that they want to up their chances with. And as for games, i assume its their way to destress after an annoying day of whatever is bothering them. I’d be able to understand these “hobbies” better if a lot of guys didn't turn out to be douchey protein-shake-obsessed gymfreaks or gamers who play 6+ hours a day. Its a turnoff when it becomes that extreme. But if the guy is exercising or gaming less than 3 hours a day, then I can understand the habits more

Not me!! I've got MUCH better things to do with my time!
I don't need the gym, I have drums. And, other than an occasional game of Solitaire or Mahjong on my computer, I haven't played video games since the mid `80's! And that was Pac-Man. I just don't see the point in it! So you scored more points than somebody else! That and 25 cents will get you a cup of coffee.

Probably because that's all they know HOW to do. Not everyone is inclined, skilled or talented. Many people, men and women have limited areas of interests. I remember meeting a woman at a social event, I asked her what else does she do for fun, she said nothing.

I don't see that. Most of my guy friends have solid social lives, hobbies, and responsibilities outside of just gym and vidya. Are you sure you're not just limiting your view to one type of guy?

Because given the state of western culture that's a good way to live. Of course we'd rather people get married and have families, but it's not for a lack of want on their part. If they're staying healthy and taking care of themselves then that's fine for the time being. Wait until the culture unfucks itself.

As others said, they care about their health/fitness and use video games to decompress.  It doesn't really negatively impact our time together so it doesn't really bother me.
