Several of my friends are single dad's, two raising kids who aren't their biological children after the mother abandoned them.

None collect child support, one litteraly paid child support while the kids were living full time with him.(for almost 20 years I haven't seen the mother since the 90's)

Yes, but expect a lot of resistance. There's still a significant amount of sexism that makes it really hard for men to be parents on their own.
