He's full of shit. Less than 2% of American men are over 6'3". 14.5% are over 6'.
The average height is 5'9", which means that 50% are shorter and 50% are taller.
Average does not = short.

The average height of American women is 5'4". So a 5'9" guy is not going to have any trouble finding women who think he's tall.
