Do you hate when you tell a person something or explained something, then they turn around and verify it with someone else?

This person who is very close to me, and knows I don't lie or make up things, does this to me all the time only to find that what I said was true. It's like the old saying "Trust, but verify". He is making me not want to talk to him. Why waste my breath? I don't know how to stop him from doing this. Any suggestions?

It depends on the topic. I don't necessarily believe everything I hear. I like to research verify certain things for myself, knowing that I can modify or change my opinions as more information becomes available.

But it's really rude for someone to turn around right in front of your face and ask someone else if what you said was true. That's insulting. It's like they are treating you like a pathological liar or simply ignorant. I would react the same way as you. "Why am I wasting my time with this person?"
What they SHOULD do is say "Wow! That's really interesting. I'll have to look into it" or ask you more questions.

I'm a curious person who loves knowledge. I'm interested in lots of topics. I read books and also spend a lot of time on-line researching, reading and watching podcasts and interviews. I know a lot more about certain subjects that most people.

I know that I don't know everything by a long shot. I believe that the more one knows, the more they realize how much they don't know. So I'm open minded and I love hearing other people's opinions or learning things from them. But I am continually amazed at how absolutely certain a lot of people are. They get their information exclusively from mainstream media and are positive that they know all there is to know.

People have been conditioned think anything they haven't heard of before is a "conspiracy theory".

I am married to a woman who does this and its one of her foibles.
I can only assume she is secretly offended by the greater range of MY life's experiences
and rarely do I get an 'I'm sorry, you ARE correct."

It FEELS like she's according veracity to any other source or authority BUT myself and its gotten to the point she even from time to time, requests web links to external supporting references.
This IS a form of 'cognitive dissonance'... many times I ALLOW her to continue in her erroneous beliefs, rather than to give an in-depth lengthy supporting seminar to lead her kicking and screaming, along the 'nodes' which eventually support my earlier proffered 'factoid'. Its wearying--- : (

Yes and I get that all the time. It's like I didn't say anything. Or I really hate it if I don't get the credit for it lol. Like if it was me that told them something, but they'll say it was someone else they heard it from. I'm easily forgettable I guess? lol

Probably depends on topic but if it does quite offten I would probably ask what ii't his/her problem. Or just say that should ask someone else as that person doesn't believe me anyway. But it's kind of rude.
