Why does he tell my this?

I’ve been talking to a guy (I consider him to be a friend). He tells me how he wants to have kids. He also tells me that if he was my age (he’s 31 and I’m 24) he’d do anything to be with me, he always asks me to find out if I’m dating someone, and then he tells me…. that I’m beautiful, kind and when I get married and have kids my life will change and I’ll be happy.

He'd probably like to be dating you/ kids/life rather then be just a friend, but he doesn't want to mess up the friendship in saying it if you don't feel the same way.

You might be right. I have a feeling it’s friendly too. That’s why when he offers to buy me gifts and asks to come visit me (we live 4 hours away from each other) I just ignore him.
