Why do random guys take photos of girls in public (without permission)?

This happens often to me and one of my other friends. I catch random guys trying to sneak photos of me/us without asking for our permission. Definitely makes me feel uncomfortable since I don't know what they’re doing w them. Anybody know why?

Two things! Two very gross things.
One: They take the photos to masturbate to later.
Two: They take the photos or videos and post them on social media for other guys to masturbate to.
It's extremely disturbing to me when I see accounts on Twitter posting countless videos of random curvy women in public who don't look like they're aware they're being filmed. But I think filming them without their knowledge or permission is unfortunately part of the appeal for certain men. Makes me squirm, and definitely not in a good way.

There was one time I was in Indonesia. I expected it to be a conservative Muslim country, but I saw scantly clad women in many places. When I saw a woman in a half-shirt I was tempted for a moment to take her picture just for proof of what I was seeing, but I stopped myself before actually doing it.

Because they can!!! Did you know it is not illegal to deliberately take a photo of someone? Nope, I didn't either but apparently it is.
