Why is a guy distant after getting very close to a girl?

They share very intimate and romantic moments and then he’s getting very distant until he comes back. Is it fear of feelings?

I'm not sure how you define "distant" but different people view staying in contact or staying close differently. I feel like forcing to stay in contact daily or even hourly is part of being in a relationship for some people but I personally don't mind even if I don't chat with my boyfriend for a few days.

If he is chummy with you in person but doesn't do the same when chatting I imagine it's easier for him to express himself in person.
