Of course it's normal. Most experts in the matter put the number as high as 93 percent of how we communicate with eachother is through non verbal communication. Some people are just better at picking up and interpretating some of the ones that are less obvious. I'm fairly good at it or at least good enough for some to claim that I can read thier mind. It helped me a lot as a medic and in sales but it took a while to understand when I was younger not to let it affect me or how I treated someone when I could tell that their initial impression of me wasn't favorable. When I was younger if I could tell they didn't like me or were judging me I would reciprocate and mirror it back. What I found as I aged is that some people for whatever reason are just set up this way and have walls up that can be interpreted wrong or they just don't trust anyone new. I've even found that if I remind them of someone from thier past that was an issue I could read that as being directed at me. As we got to know eachother and they opened up more I would ask them about our initial interaction by saying you didn't like me when we first met huh and it would come out why they felt this way. I say always be safe but realize that even though you can tell or feel how people are interacting with you it doesn't necessarily mean you understand or are interpreting what's behind the non verbal cues you are reading.
