How to ask out a guy?

I wanna learn how to ask a guy out, not for sex but for an actual relationship, can I just go up to him and ask? What are some good lines? Would i look weird?

Ask him out to lunch. Unlike dinner and drinks, lunch has no implications that there will be more to follow.

You don't need an opening line, simply say, "Would you like to go to lunch?"

If he says yes, then he's interested (or just hungry). If he says no, then you've invested no time and can move on.

Try lunch something kind of neutral without any implications and see where and how it goes.
