Is my boyfriend truly forgetful or is he lying?

Okay so me and my boyfriend have gotten back together after a year of breaking up. Anyways, it’s been a couple of months and things are pretty fine between us except for one that is bothering me and is making me anxious and I’m overthinking it way too much so please tell me your honest opinions. Is it normal for my boyfriend to be forgetful of certain events or the order of events? For example I was asking him about some events that happened in the year that we weren’t together..( about 2.5 months earlier) and I was asking about an event that happened where he met his friend two times next to her house as he was fixing her car where he initially caused damage to it.. anyways.. he told me that the first time he went was with his car and the second was with an Uber, I then found out that it was the opposite.. he told me that he truly can’t remember the order of the events because he was so focused on fixing the damage done to her car and that he was so embarrassed so that detail wasn’t really important. Also note that the second time he went next to her house was two after he contacted me while we were apart to get back to me. and he didn’t mention it since he was scared that I would misinterpret the story. Anyway, he truly was fixing her car and I’m sure of that. But I’m scared if he acts forgetful just to hide things.. in this case he didn’t. But another time where he forwarded a vn from his friend to his own chat on whatsapp a year ago, and when I asked him why.. he told me that he doesn’t remember why. His friend is his college friend. Tbh.. he is a bit forgetful in nature.. might forget his keys.. wallet.. etc. but is it possible for guys to be forgetful like this? Or at least in the timing of events that happened a month or more ago?
