Why would a guy say something mean loud enough so I can hear it but not to my face?

There is this annoying guy kinda mean who keeps kinda saying mean stuff about me loud enough so I can hear but not to my face for example he said “why does (my name) walk like that!” Like seriously? I’m RIGJT there why can’t he say it to my face! Anyone has an explanation for this or is he just an annoying douche bag I notice he stares at me sometimes too!

I mean what else has he said to you too get you as mad as you are now cause from what it seems there's no way your just mad because of that unless you are young which from what it sounds like you are really young
