How to talk to a guy without making it obvious?

So there's this guy in my class... I like him but I don't have a crush or feelings for him. I just want to know him better and be friends with him. But I don't know how should I approach him. We have talked to each other before but not that too much. So we know basics about each other. It's just that I need some topics on what I should talk with him about. I was taking things slow... Being shy... Not trying to talk to him much so that he won't feel like I'm just being clingy with him, but today I realized that we don't know if we are gonna be in the same class next year as well. I can't risk things. THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT! I have got like 3 months only to be friends with him and the fact that he's got no social media 😭

Do you share any classes or school activities? That would be my first instinct is to find something you both share at school and ask if he wants to study or something. You know? Like say “hey, why don’t we meet up for a coffee and study ______?”

That would be the easiest way to go about. If not that, maybe just ask him to do something casual. If he views it as casual and not date like, more of a chance to get to know him as friends first.

Other than that, maybe find out what he is interested in and see if it is something you can suggest doing. Maybe he likes to work out. You could say you were looking for a gym buddy certain days. That is casual enough and you can get some chit chat in.

Those are my best suggestions. I’m very outgoing so it would be an issue for me so maybe that is why I struggle to come up with more. Hope this helps.

Be chill around him try to get closer to him he doesn't have a phone number if he does ask him for it

Compliment him on something. Ask him some questions and get him to talk about himself, his plans etc.
He may be just as nervous as you!
It is OK to ask him to go for a walk or grab a cup of coffee.
Just be yourself and go for it.

Just have some normal everyday conversations with him you can do that without coming on too strong. Don't be awkward tho. Read his body language and responses too - if he seems into it then keep it going
