Why would a guy start speaking loudly when I walked in the room?

He was talking to his classmates in some normal ok tone then when I walked in he saw me out the corner of his eye then was like “GREEEAAAAT” they looked at him funnily then he said “sorry *awkward laugh* I just love it when I get new deals” they just laughed and said you are funny man but I reek like I had something to do with it as I see him looking at me too
