Guy who works with my boss asked me a question and I said mhm and he said is that a yes? And my boss asked me in front of me if we already met and the guy said yes we already met but with a serious face

Mhmm isn't a good answer in work. Only if you are very busy, do it while looking at them. But while in a convo, a "mhmm" usually means, "sure, sure" as in disbelief and/or mocking, or it might mean "yeah, whatever!" so, try NOT to use it that often.

That's why i never use mhm or uh-huh or yuhh-huh.

Use yes instead. Yeah also pretty much has the same meanings as in a professional league if you know what i mean.
