Am I reading to much into this?

So a guy that I have been sleeping with for a while now (6-7 months) (sex is amazingly great) asked me to go out with his buddy and him to break the ice with me? He paid for my drinks. We hung out for like 6 hours with his friend which was a good time. Then he came back to my place. Is he slowly wanting more? Is he wanting to get to know me? Why would he invite me out of all people?

The fact that he invited his friend makes the situation casual, and even though you sleep together I’m sure he considers you a friend, so I wouldn’t look too deeply into it. The thing is, in this hookup culture women say they don’t want more than sex, but I really think they do, especially as you’re sharing all of these intimate moments and getting more comfortable outside of sex. After 2 months if he hasn’t talked about more or made a move to be your boyfriend then he has no intention to, which is sometimes the hard thing to hear. If you want a committed relationship, it’s better to take your interests elsewhere, to a man on the same page, rather than keep hooking up with this guy and hoping for little indications that maybe he wants more. You’ll only hurt yourself on this road.

As you guys hang out, I’m sure your hookups are just you coming, hooking up, then leaving. You talk, get to know eachother, etc, so you’ve gained somewhat of a friendship. If he’s around the same age as you, or at least in his 30s, I don't know about you but he may not have a plethora of friends. By invited you, it says that yeah you have sex, but you’re also a friend and he’s not a complete asshole. That there is fine, if you are also ok with it. There are people who are friends with benefits but go on trips together, hang out, have met each other’s friends, etc. Those dynamics can be confusing, but only if you are wanting more, and these things mean more to you, when for him it’s just a means of having company and a person to do something with without over investing. For you, looking into that outing in the way you are implies that even if you didn’t want more initially, you would want more if he puts in on the table. So if you’re open to an actual connection, why not find a guy who has the same intention from the start?
