My colleague texts me outside of work hours but it’s never work related and all personal. Is he just being friendly?

Only mentions our boss when making jokes sometimes but that’s it. We talk like once a week usually on weekends much of the day.

If one or the other of you changes jobs, or change locations within a large enough entity and are no longer co-workers, his tone might change.
