Depends, if you're on your period and you want to talk with him about it, ask him if it's ok to rely on him when you're in that time of the month... If he's really clueless you can double down and say "you know? The really moody time of the month" and he still doesn't get it just say that you're talking about your period.
If you just want to discuss it for some reason just ask "is it ok to talk about my period with you?"
Keeping things direct and simple is the best

It's a perfectly honest question, I would like to be blunt but honestly that would be to rude. My girl always says that her monthly friend is here. I hug and kiss her everyday before work, mainly because I don't even begin to understand how uncomfortable and painful physically she is in.
