Guys, how does a woman explain that she is self-sufficient - can do general home repairs, etc. herself - without sounding snobby, a man-hater, worse?

Growing up I was treated more like a second boy by my father than a girl. It was only until I hit my mid 20s that it was like dad I'm a girl, I wear skirts.

But that growing up means I can do general house repairs, when my parents bought their house I climbed up into the attic after the home inspector, I know more about cars than my brother, etc.

How do I write this specifically if communicating with someone on say facebook where you have limited room -- it's easier in person I know, they're in another state right now - without sounding snobby, pretentious or a man hater?

There's nothing wrong with that at all. Those are all good things. And I would certainly admire a woman like you.

But you're not going to be judged on your skill sets. You're going to be judged on your attitude. Do you have love in your heart? Do you have compassion? Do you have empathy? Those are the things that matter.

It's great that you have those skill, but keep in mind it isn't necessarily a good thing to men. Men show their love by doing things for their woman. And like women, men need to feel needed. So it's probably not something you want to advertise if you're on a dating site. But nothing wrong with saying something about it on Facebook. You probably just want to say something like you know how to do home repairs and leave it at that.
